Who we are
Wargo & Wolford Consulting (“Wargo & Wolford,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a consulting firm based in Portland, Oregon, United States. We own and operate the website at wargowolford.com and our client-facing tools at tools.wargowolford.com. Wargo & Wolford is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
For any privacy question or request — including to access, correct, or delete your information — email hello@wargowolford.com.
Scope of this policy
This policy explains how we handle personal information we collect as a business through our own website and forms. It applies to visitors, people who contact us, and clients who complete our engagement forms.
It does not cover personal information we process on a client’s behalf while building or operating something for them — that data is governed by our agreement with that client, where the client is the controller and we act as their processor. Nor does it cover third-party websites we link to, which keep their own privacy practices.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need, and only in a few specific ways.
Information you give us
- Contact form (at /intake): your name, email, business name, what you’re looking for, and a short note about your goal.
- Client forms (scope and discovery), shared by private link during an engagement and hosted at tools.wargowolford.com: project details such as scope, budget range, timeline, and brand and content readiness — plus the name and email of each person who fills one in, so we know who provided what. You choose what to complete, and your answers save as you go.
Information collected automatically
- Technical logs. When you visit, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) records standard request data — such as your IP address, the pages requested, and timestamps — to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- Bot-check. Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, which sets a token to tell humans from automated abuse. It is not an advertising or cross-site tracking technology.
We do not use advertising trackers, marketing pixels, session-replay tools, or analytics cookies. No cookie-consent banner is shown because we set no cookies beyond those strictly necessary to render the site and run the bot-check.
How and why we use it
We use personal information only for the purposes below. For visitors in regions where a legal basis applies (such as the EU, EEA, and UK), the basis for each purpose is shown alongside it.
| Purpose | Information used | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Respond to an inquiry you send us | Contact-form details — name, email, business, and your message | Our legitimate interest in replying, and taking steps at your request before any engagement |
| Scope, quote, and deliver an engagement | Client-form details — scope, budget range, timeline, brand and content readiness, plus the name and email of each contributor | Performance of a contract with you, or steps to enter one |
| Keep business, tax, and accounting records | Records of inquiries and engagements | Compliance with a legal obligation, and our legitimate interest in keeping records |
| Keep the site and forms secure and free of abuse | IP address, standard server logs, and a bot-check token | Our legitimate interest in protecting the site and your submissions |
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not make decisions about you solely by automated means.
Service providers we share it with
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only with the service providers below, and only as needed to receive, reply to, and manage your inquiry or engagement. Each acts on our instructions under a data-processing agreement and may not use your information for its own purposes. We update this list before adding a new provider that handles personal information.
| Provider | What it does for us | Information | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare, Inc. | Hosting, content delivery, the functions that receive submissions, the draft store that saves client-form answers as you type, and the Turnstile bot-check | Site content, form submissions, IP address and request logs | United States (global edge) |
| Slack Technologies (Salesforce, Inc.) | Delivers a notification to a private internal channel when the contact form is submitted | Contact-form contents | United States |
| Airtable, Inc. | Stores the record of your inquiry or engagement in our private CRM | Inquiry and engagement details | United States |
| Google LLC (Google Workspace) | Hosts the business email we use to reply to you | The contents of our email correspondence | United States |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to respond to lawful requests, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
International data transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers store and process information in the United States. If you are located in the EU, EEA, or UK and contact us, your information will be transferred to the United States. Where such a transfer involves personal data protected under those laws, we rely on an appropriate safeguard — such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, or an equivalent transfer mechanism offered by the relevant provider.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it: for as long as we’re in contact with you about an inquiry or engagement, plus a reasonable period afterward for our business, tax, and legal records. Client-form drafts are held in the draft store only until the form is complete or the engagement ends, then cleared. When information is no longer needed, we delete it. You can also ask us to delete your information sooner — see your rights below.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the rights below over your personal information. We extend these to everyone who contacts us, regardless of location:
- Access — a copy of the information we hold about you
- Correct — fix information that’s inaccurate or incomplete
- Delete — ask us to erase your information
- Restrict or object — limit or object to certain uses
- Portability — receive your information in a portable format
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on consent
- Opt out — of any sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling (we do none of these)
- Non-discrimination — we won’t treat you differently for exercising a right
- Appeal or complain — to us, and to your state attorney general or data-protection authority
To exercise any right, email hello@wargowolford.com. We’ll acknowledge your request promptly and respond within 30 days (we’ll tell you if a complex request needs more time). To protect your information, we verify requests against the email on file, and may ask for additional confirmation for sensitive ones.
Sale, sharing & Global Privacy Control
We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use it for targeted advertising or profiling. Because we do none of these, there is nothing to opt out of — but where your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) or similar opt-out signal, we honor it as a valid request.
Cookies & tracking
The site is cookieless apart from what is strictly necessary to render pages and run the Cloudflare Turnstile bot-check. We use no advertising or analytics cookies, pixels, or session-replay tools, and we do not track you across other websites. Because we don’t track visitors across sites, we have no separate response to browser “Do Not Track” signals beyond our default of not tracking; we honor GPC as described above.
Children’s privacy
Our site and services are meant for businesses and are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided us information, email hello@wargowolford.com.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information — HTTPS is enforced across the site, access to our CRM is limited to the firm’s principals, and we rely on established providers with their own security programs. That said, no method of transmission over the internet or method of storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Governing law
This policy, and any dispute relating to it, is governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules — except where a privacy law that applies to you provides otherwise.
Third-party links
Our site and communications may link to websites and services we don’t operate. We’re not responsible for their content or privacy practices — please review their policies before giving them your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make a material change — one that affects what we collect, how we use it, or who we share it with — we’ll update the “last updated” date and post the revised policy here at least 30 days before it takes effect, and we’ll tell you directly where we have an ongoing relationship with you. The change log below records revisions.
